I love and like my wife. Two important distinctions here. Love is fleeting, like a fever which comes and goes independently of the will.  

Like lasts a lot longer than love. Like is around after the butterflies in the stomach go, the 10+ hour phone calls, when you fully accept the weirdness and idiosyncrasies, the good and the bad of the person.
